It also reminded me, that we should not only show compassion for those overseas, but those closer to home.
A few years ago when I was a student in Glasgow, I was getting some chips from the local chippie. In front of me and my boyfriend was a woman and a child, and the woman had about a £1 all in loose change and asked for some 'floaters' for her little. Floaters are deep fried batter, this wasn't a choice, but what she could afford. It saddened me and reminded me how poverty and hunger is close to home too. We should do more for our neighbours.Shaheenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03602971207085826708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24952061912448156.post-42490115217566309772010-04-29T15:41:26.270-07:002010-04-29T15:41:26.270-07:00Chef E~it is so very southern isn't it? This was a pretty standard dessert my mother served. This week I was sick & blogging my Days for the Food Bank was slow in coming. I thought of a pear tart but never made it happen. I still have an entire can of fruit cocktail...dessert ideas?? LOL
Mary~thank you! I too enjoy your blog & cannot get my mind off of the Fry Bread.
Angie~thank you, I am still coveting those oatmeal cookies!! ha!Deehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06189313580249955642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24952061912448156.post-33767467992154066202010-04-29T13:05:18.371-07:002010-04-29T13:05:18.371-07:00The veggie stew looks very good! The veggie stew looks very good!Angie's Recipeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14978978261098754954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24952061912448156.post-64498123204977702222010-04-29T12:44:52.160-07:002010-04-29T12:44:52.160-07:00Your very kind heart is certainly in the right pla...Your very kind heart is certainly in the right place.
